            "content_html": "<h3>.. or what to do with all my online thingies <img src=\"https://twemoji.classicpress.net/14/72x72/1f642.png\" alt=\"\ud83d\ude42\" class=\"wp-smiley\" style=\"height: 1em; max-height: 1em;\"></h3>\n<p><strong>Beware: An essay of sorts.</strong></p>\n<p>So recently, when dabbling into live coding, and seeing almost nobody except regular listeners (to my shows) around, I decided to dig back into &#8220;how to promote stuff&#8221;.<br>\nAfter all, next to nobody knows I&#8217;m also doing &#8220;this live coding thing&#8221;. And then, there is so much stuff I usually research when looking into topics. So much effort, and nobody benefits from it, because there hasnt been much exposure of it in the last few years? Eg. my old blog silently died a few years ago (4 years? 5 years?), and getting back on track took waaay too long. </p>\n<p>Yes, this weblog is my current home for all my writings and ramblings, but I dont think most ppl know about it.</p>\n<p>This got me thinking and tinkering, about all the options to promote oneself, inherant possibilies with using other platforms, and in the end, I decided to do a lot more than I originally thought I&#8217;d do. Thus, lets talk about my plans for all of this, the immediate future, as one may say <img src=\"https://twemoji.classicpress.net/14/72x72/1f642.png\" alt=\"\ud83d\ude42\" class=\"wp-smiley\" style=\"height: 1em; max-height: 1em;\"></p>\n<h3>This future looks not so bad anymore.</h3>\n<p>Originally, I only wanted to promote this lovely piece of live programming show, but &#8211; so many things are not working well as a live show, and while writing tutorials and how-tos are a good way for reference, showing things to you directly, in a self-contained format, does help a lot more. </p>\n<p>My thoughts went into things like: </p>\n<ol>\n<li>podcasts &#8211; a friend of mine repeatedly told me, over the last few years, why I wouldnt just do my own podcast? One to talk about all that tech stuff, ie. web development, with WordPress, HTML 5, JavaScript, Usability, all that jazz that makes me tick and want to look further; esp. those &#8220;This is only a test&#8221; committed by <a href=\"\">(Adam Savage&#8217;s) Tested</a> are stuck to the back of my brain, but also &#8220;The RTFM Show!&#8221; by JayzTwoCents</li>\n<li>screencasts &#8211; its a lovely format, with the option to enhance it with a live show, but not necessarly requiring one</li>\n<li>live shows &#8211; as mentioned before, these are great, but not everything works as good as the other options do; could also be used for quick reports on progress, some news bulletin format-like show, random ramblings and rants (&#8220;just chatting&#8221;), and so on</li>\n<li>co-programming &#8211; working on something, while a clock ticks away, and then doing a quick 10 &#8211; 15 recap, after each &#8220;burst&#8221;; there is a streamer on Twitch (<a href=\"https://twitch.tv/SabrinaSchuh\">SabrinaSchuh</a>), who does exactly this with &#8220;co-authoring&#8221;, ie. doing 30 &#8211; 45 minutes of concentrated work on your own writing-related project .. this got me looking further in what other streamers do <img src=\"https://twemoji.classicpress.net/14/72x72/1f642.png\" alt=\"\ud83d\ude42\" class=\"wp-smiley\" style=\"height: 1em; max-height: 1em;\"></li>\n<li>(&#8220;social&#8221;) platforms &#8211; which are relevant to what kind of audience? Instagram is for immediate imagery, maybe a bit of music / announcements, simple educational stuff, Facebook is maybe best for event announcements, potentially for live streaming, maybe a bit of a classic page, but not much more; Twitter is .. well .. Twitter. Maybe move more towards Mastodon / GNU/Social, because the geeky / tech-savvy community seems to be lurking there (much more so)? And what about other video platforms (than Twitch, YT Live + FB Live)? What about MixCloud Live?</li>\n</ol>\n<p>Which leads to more thoughts &#8211; what do persue?<br>\nMe thinks, its going to be several ventures.</p>\n<p>One is, &#8220;classic&#8221; self-contained videos on YouTube and maybe Vimeo, ie. tutorials, how-tos (eg. &#8220;x ways to achieve a &#8216;current song&#8217; feature for OBS&#8221;), but also podcasty-like, lengthy feature shows.</p>\n<p>The other, quite different formats within the live streaming &#8220;commmunities&#8221;. So, for once, <a href=\"https://gothic-forest-troll.org\">the classic DJ shows</a> are gonna continue, but are going to be slightly refined. I really want to do some kind of album feature thingy, eg. &#8220;listening session&#8221;, every few weeks. Maybe bi-weekly or on set dates. Plus, adding some pop-up shows here and there, cause I totally miss that .. just when this urge hits you, DO the show! DJing helps me to relax and unclutter my brain from unneeded garbage <img src=\"https://twemoji.classicpress.net/14/72x72/1f642.png\" alt=\"\ud83d\ude42\" class=\"wp-smiley\" style=\"height: 1em; max-height: 1em;\"></p>\n<p>Thirdly, some intermedia formats, for instagram, and other &#8220;shortish media&#8221; (for want of a proper name).</p>\n<h3>Further and further we go, down the rabbit-hole.</h3>\n<p>Which by now should be a big bear-like cavern.</p>\n",

Also, not all partners are equal, nor are the affiliates.</p>\n<p>Note: You may also voluntarly choose not to become affiliate or partner at all, eg. because direct tips shave off much less money than using the Twitch monetarial environment, or because you&#8217;re streaming for fame, glory or just the sake of it <img src=\"https://twemoji.classicpress.net/14/72x72/1f642.png\" alt=\"\ud83d\ude42\" class=\"wp-smiley\" style=\"height: 1em; max-height: 1em;\"></p>\n<p><span id=\"more-594\"></span></p>\n<h3>Not everyone is equal</h3>\n<p>Lets get this jotted down quickly &#8211; the ranking thing:</p>\n<ol>\n<li>Streamer &#8211; your base mode, where you get nothing EXCEPT from direct tips, eg. via PayPal or Ko-Fi</li>\n<li>Affiliate &#8211; you get all the money for bits, but subscriptions get you <strong>50% at max</strong> (with percentual reductions based on the country you live in)</li>\n<li>Partners &#8211; get all of the above + <strong>at least 50%</strong> of the money per subscription, but depending on what Twitch decides, you may get even more</li>\n</ol>\n<h3>Cost breakdown: User</h3>\n<p>The inner base currency of Twitch is essentially the USD = the US Dollar. 1 bit roughly costs 1 US cent. In Europe, its 1 bit = 1.23 Euro (plus VAT, which changes depending on the country). 1 USD = 0.82 Euro (as of 2020-01-26).</p>\n<p>Subscription costs are roughly as follows (US numbers are based on currency conversions):</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Tier 1: 4.19 Euro / 5 USD</li>\n<li>Tier 2: 8.40 Euro / 10 USD</li>\n<li>Tier 3: 16.80 Euro / 20 USD</li>\n</ul>\n<p>Transfer costs for direct tips (most common, globally available options):</p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https://paypal.com\">PayPal</a> / <a href=\"https://paypal.me\">PayPal.me</a>: Rates are calculated based on the monthly volume of sales, but are roughly 2 &#8211; 4% of the overall transfer; also depending on your country</li>\n<li><a href=\"https://ko-fi.com\">Ko-Fi</a>: Does not take a platform fee, only transfer rates are applied (that includes PayPal)</li>\n</ul>\n<h3>How to support your streamer / DJ the best?</h3>\n<p>The best options are either direct tips, or cheers. So hype trains primarly supported with bits means much more support for your favorite streamer, than handing out subs, although subscriptions cost less for you as a user. This also depends on the size and the &#8220;mainstream approach&#8221; of the streams or shows. </p>\n<p>Eg. my primary show, <a href=\"https://blackndeather.net\">Black&#8217;N&#8217;Deather</a>, is focused on specific sub-genres of Metal, that is, Black / Atmospheric Black / Viking / Pagan / Folk Metal, and to some extents also Thrash / Death / Doom Metal and Grindcore. This is essentially a nich\u00e9 area, even in a nowadays pretty mainstream subculture. Thus, my personal expectations are not high, at least not when looking at potential earnings from Twitch.</p>\n<p>For more mainstream streams, you might earn quite a bit, and the subscription path would be an actual option. My personal guesstimate is, when your stream has got 1k = 1000 followers, your average subscription base would be at least 1/5th, so even at that level, you&#8217;d get roughly 400 Euro per month.</p>\n",

But also, what you can do further with OBS, just by relying on the the magic of the web (ie. HTML 5, CSS 3 and Javascript). </p>\n<p>The other topic is how-tos and articles just about the environment of Twitch and online DJing in general. That includes gathering statistical information from multiple sources, eg. quite a few point towards the statistical result, that the sweet spot for shows per week are only TWO. Anything further supposedly decreases the viewing time or viewers per show per se. Etc.</p>\n<p>Next on, I want to <strong>add several services</strong> to my existing web development &#8220;empire&#8221; (of dirt), specifically <strong>aimed towards DJs, musicians, projects / bands</strong>. That includes building or restructuring WordPress-based websites towards their needs, and offering plugins, and extensions which allow you to connect your own site with eg. Twitch, at least to some extent. Not to mention I plan to build own plugins to improve my own site and publishing cycles (eg. <strong>multiposting</strong> to other platforms, straight out of ClassicPress / WordPress), which eventually will be turned into <strong>premium plugins</strong>.</p>\n<p>Talking about plugins: <strong>Lets not forget about Classic Forms 8</strong>, a fork of Contact Form 7 for CP and WP 4.9.x. Central European Time = usually starting around 17:00 CET). This I want to change into bi-weekly, so eg. every odd or every even week. Further improvements include saving money for a decent workstation and streaming computer.
